On June 14th, Joliet LEDA had the privilege of visiting the American Red Cross of Illinois River Valley, thanks to Brian McDaniel’s invitation. We were given an eye-opening tour and discovered so much about the Red Cross. Did you know that the majority of Latinos have type O+ blood type? Type O-positive blood is the universal blood type as it can be transfused to any positive blood type.
But that’s not all! We also learned about the incredible work of the Red Cross’ Reconnecting Families program. In times of conflict, disaster, migration, or humanitarian emergencies, families can be separated across borders. When traditional communication channels fail, the program steps in to reconnect loved ones. To initiate the process, the inquiring family member must possess essential information and have had prior direct contact with the sought person. 馃挍

El 14 de junio, Joliet LEDA tuvo el privilegio de visitar la Cruz Roja Americana de Illinois River Valley, gracias a la invitaci贸n de Brian McDaniel. Nos dieron un tour revelador y descubrimos mucho sobre la Cruz Roja. 驴Sab铆as que la mayor铆a de los latinos tienen el tipo de sangre O+? La sangre tipo O positivo es el tipo de sangre universal, ya que se puede transfundir a cualquier tipo de sangre positivo.
隆Pero eso no es todo! Tambi茅n conocimos la incre铆ble labor del programa Reconectando Familias de la Cruz Roja. En tiempos de conflicto, desastre, migraci贸n o emergencias humanitarias, las familias pueden verse separadas por las fronteras. Cuando fallan los canales de comunicaci贸n tradicionales, el programa interviene para reconectar a los seres queridos. Para iniciar el proceso, el familiar solicitante debe poseer informaci贸n esencial y haber tenido contacto directo previo con la persona buscada. 馃挍
